Day 5 - Naples (Pompeii)

Today we visited Pompeii. In 79AD the city was wiped out when Mt Vesuvius suddenly erupted. Exploration to undercover the ruins began in 1768 and it is amazing to see how well the city was preserved. You walk through the city and see the baths, temples, market places, shops and an ampitheatre. Human remains were also discovered and are now displayed in glass cabinets. Another hot day today but Naples is fortunate to have a sea breeze so that provides some relief. We're off to have pizza tonight.

Hi Bec,
Can't believe how much you've already done and you only left a week ago. I bet it feels like a lot longer. The motorbike ride around Naples sounds fantastic. What a sensational idea. On the back on a motorbike is absolutely the best way to see a city. The weather looks great and you look black already. Suffice to say it is 14 and raining here today. Not great baking weather. There's always L'Oreal Bronze but your brother hates the smell so it's white winter for me.
Take care. Will email re Ugo.
Love Gil

Howdy Mate. Just wondered if you'd checked out any bicycle grips in your travels yet? Sounds like you're having a great time, look forward to reading more...

Stay safe, have a ball...

Love Kel.
