Day 3 - Rome (Vatican City)

As Thursday was Saints Day, many parts of The Vatican were not available so we went back today. The queues were extraordinary and standing in the heat was exhausting. We did make it to the top of the Dome up 320 steps...bloody hard work but the view from the top was amazing (see below). The Pieta was on display but now sits behind glass after an attack by an Hungrary-born Australia in 1971. It's hard to believe that this piece of art was carved from one piece of marble which meant no room for error.
